Connecting Bluesky

Bluesky is the simplest platform Stitchable connects to — there's no developer app to register and no OAuth consent screen to click through. You only need an app password, which Bluesky lets any account generate for itself in a few clicks.

1. Generate an app password on Bluesky

  1. Go to bsky.app and log in with the account you want to connect.
  2. Click Settings (the gear icon).
  3. Go to Privacy and SecurityApp Passwords.
  4. Click Add App Password.
  5. Give it a name you'll recognize later, e.g. Stitchable, and click Create.
  6. Copy the generated password immediately — Bluesky only shows it to you once.
Not your login password

This app password is not your Bluesky account's main login password, and you should never enter your main password into Stitchable. An app password is a separate, revocable credential scoped to sign-in only — if you ever want to disconnect Stitchable, come back to this same App Passwords screen and revoke it, without touching your real password.

2. Connect it in Stitchable

  1. Open the connect wizard from the Publishing page and choose Bluesky.
  2. On the developer-app step, click Skip — Bluesky needs no app credentials.
  3. On the connect step, fill in:
    • Display name (for your reference) — anything memorable, e.g. Bluesky — main.
    • Account handle / id — your Bluesky handle, e.g. you.bsky.social (a did: also works if you have one).
    • Access token / app password — paste the app password you copied in step 1.
  4. Click Connect.

Stitchable resolves your handle to your actual hosting server (Bluesky is federated, so not every *.bsky.social-looking handle lives on the same server) and signs in with the app password, the same way any third-party Bluesky client would. Your account's avatar and identity are fetched automatically once connected.

If you ever revoke the app password from bsky.app, Stitchable's connection will start failing — just repeat this guide with a freshly generated one and reconnect.
